Final four in NFL playoffs offer lessons, especially about defense and coaches’ egos
The tough keep going. With all the league does, and will continue to do, to prop up offense to keep the points coming, defense is all over the four teams remaining. All four, we repeat, all four, teams finished in the top six in scoring defense. So, the less time spent on how often Tim Tebow will or won’t throw the ball “downfield,” the better. It’s time to stop the run and force teams to punt more.
A one-season sample would certainly never constitute a trend to those who track such things. But as the Broncos make decisions about where they’re going and how they’ll get there after this past season’s 4-12 disaster, there are some things that are worth looking at with the league’s final four this Sunday.
