Peyton Manning, Broncos ready to mesh on field
Watching John Fox and Peyton Manning lead separate NFL teams in the previous decade would suggest they have some work to do to get on the same offensive playbook page.
Fox is a head coach raised on the defensive side of the line of scrimmage. He has operated his offense as if half his thoughts are with his defense. Pound the running game. Milk the clock. Keep the defense on the sideline. Mix in an explosive pass play. Pound the running game.

Broncos switch to Manning’s no-huddle offense
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Out with the old option. In with the new no-huddle.
The Denver Broncos are getting their first taste of the hurry-up-at-altitude offense that Peyton Manning will unleash on the NFL this fall if everything keeps going well with his surgically repaired neck.
Although the installation of the Broncos’ new offense won’t happen until summertime, Manning and his receivers are getting to know each other during the team’s voluntary workouts this month.

Manning joins workouts for Broncos
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Peyton Manning is joining his new teammates Monday at the Denver Broncos headquarters for the start of offseason workouts.
The four-time MVP, who signed with Denver after he was cut by the Colts, has been working out with wide receiver Eric Decker over the last month.
Manning is not only learning a new playbook in Denver but he’s also trying to regain his arm strength following a series of neck operations that sidelined him for all of last season and led to his departure from Indianapolis.

I was on my cell talking to a media colleague long distance when another call came in this afternoon. The number was blocked. With so many calls out on several stories, who could this be?
“Hi Phil, it’s Peyton Manning,” he said.
Not to get overly sentimental, but it always bothered me in the past when there wasn’t an opportunity to say good-bye to Colts most enjoyed. Marcus Pollard comes to mind. Still have never been able to tell him thank you. I’ve been fortunate enough to catch up to others down the road, Edgerrin James, Ken Dilger, Kelvin Hayden, Tarik Glenn, Mike Peterson, Marlin Jackson, Gary Brackett, David Thornton, Jake Scott, the list goes on. Dallas Clark was considerate enough to send out an email to many of us after his recent release.

Archie Manning: The personification of a class act
This was in November of 1984 at the end of Archie Manning’s football career when he was playing out the string for the Minnesota Vikings.
I was the sports editor of the late, great Jackson Daily News, an afternoon newspaper.
After Archie toiled so many painful seasons with the hapless Saints, the aptly named Bum Phillips traded him to the miserable Houston Oilers, who then traded him to equally miserable Minnesota. In the NFL, Archie never caught a break. Never. I’ve always thought that there’s some kind of special reverse karma at work for his sons, Peyton and Eli.

Peyton Manning works out with new Broncos teammates
As expected, Peyton Manning is hard at work in Denver.
Manning worked out with center J.D. Walton, throwing passes to wide receiver Eric Decker and tight end Julius Thomas at Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch on Monday.

There were several times during the 439
days that passed between the time he took his last meaningful snap for the Colts
and when he signed his new contract with the Broncos that Peyton Manning
couldn’t help but wonder if his career might be over.
After spending all of 2011 on the sideline
because of neck injuries, Manning had to consider the possibility of not
playing.

Woody Paige: Peyton Manning just felt comfortable in Denver
When it came down to his Decision, Peyton Manning “wanted someone to tell me what to do.”
But, he told The Denver Post on Tuesday afternoon, “nobody would.”
I asked Peyton if he had leaned on older brother Cooper — who had been his guiding light when they were kids — for advice.

Tebow cast aside much like Manning
The images were indelible for Denver fans or anyone watching on TV as Tebowmania swept the nation.
On the sidelines, Tim Tebow was Tebowing after scoring yet another late touchdown. In his box upstairs, John Elway was trying his best to look excited about a quarterback he could barely stand to watch.
