Wait till Pete Rose hears about this

These days, Chicago Blackhawks goalie Marty Turco sees more action on the bench than he does on the ice.

Turco, who has been a one-year, $1.3 million disappointment for Chicago, hasn’t started since Feb. 11. But at least he keeps his head in the game.

Tuesday night, from his seat at the far end of the bench in Montreal, he made a small wager with a Canadiens fan. When Turco won, the fan handed him a $5 bill inscribed “Habs rule.” They made a couple more wagers, and the fan won his money back. By then Turco had revised the notation on the $5 bill to read “Turco rules.”

The league is aware of the incident but plans no formal investigation. Apparently the NHL doesn’t consider delusion a punishable offense.
