Jimmy Clausen got a terrible haircut at Supercuts, tweets about it
t was reported at one point that Jimmy Clausen had nearly a $1 million roster bonus coming his way. Turns out, that’s not true, so Clausen seems safe from being cut by the Panthers for now.
But he apparently suffered a much more embarrassing type of cut on Tuesday afternoon — the kind that comes with a trip to Supercuts and you run into a bad “stylist” who doesn’t really understand the concept of why someone would want their hair to look normal. Jimmy tweeted about it and it evolved into some sort of bizarre endorsement semi-pitch online.

The Texans are no longer in the market for a veteran quarterback after agreeing to terms on a one-year contract with John Beck on Wednesday.
Coach Gary Kubiak said this week he wanted to sign a fourth quarterback, preferably a veteran.
Beck, who turns 31 in August, enters his sixth season in the NFL. He should have a smooth transition into the Texans’ system because he spent the last two years playing at Washington.
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan use the same system as the Texans.

Eric Mangini regrets turning in Patriots for ‘Spygate’
Eric Mangini knew of the Patriots taping opposing coaches’ signals when he was an assistant coach with the team, and he told the NFL about the violation after he left for the Jets in 2006.
Now an analyst for ESPN, Mangini said on NFL Live he regrets informing on the team and would take it back if he could. His comments come on the same day Ravens coach John Harbaughsaid the accomplishments of the Patriots are viewed as taintedbecause of ‘Spygate.’

New Orleans Saints will enter draft without knowing of player discipline
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told reporters at a pre-draft event in New York that no Saints player discipline announcement is coming this week.
The confirmation that Goodell will hold off on levying punishment against Saints players involved in the pay-for-performance bounty scandal leaves Saints personnel in a bit of limbo as they decide which players to add to the roster during the upcoming draft.

Colts GM Ryan Grigson confirms Indianapolis will select Andrew Luck No. 1
We’ve all known that the Colts would select Andrew Luck with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, and it’s been reported that they informed Luck of that, but it wasn’t made unofficially official until Tuesday, when general manager Ryan Grigson confirmed the Colts choice.
According to our Colts Rapid Reporter Tom James, Grigson felt it was “the right thing to do” in anticipation of a heavy “media gauntlet” Luck would face over the next few days.
“In fairness to Andrew Luck and in fairness to the whole process of the media gauntlet he is going to be enduring the next couple of days, I thought it was the right thing to do to announce that we are going to take him (No. 1),” Grigson said.
It probably didn’t hurt that the Colts would like to see a big turnout for their new franchise quarterback at their official draft party, which James points out is scheduled for Friday evening, at which point Luck will be formally introduced to Colts fans.

Who will and won’t live up to their draft hype? Here are our picks
The first round of the NFL draft is Thursday, and we have a four-part draft question for our college football writers.
1. Which offensive player in this draft is a guy you’re certain will be a star?
2. Which highly touted offensive prospect is most likely to be a bust?
3. Which defensive player in this draft is a guy you’re certain will be a star?
4. Which highly touted defensive prospect is most likely to be a bust?

NFL releases regular-season schedule
The nation won’t have to wait long to see Peyton Manning in a Broncos uniform.
Manning’s first game as Broncos quarterback will come in prime time as Denver hosts Pittsburgh on the opening Sunday of the NFL season. The four-time MVP was released by Indianapolis after missing the 2011 season following neck surgery. After conducting a four-city lottery for his services, Manning landed in Denver, which hasn’t won a Super Bowl since his new boss, John Elway, was behind center.
He won’t have an easy assignment against the Steelers, who ranked first in overall defense and against the pass last year.

Jaworski Is Dropped From ‘Monday Night’
For one of the few times in its 42-year history, “Monday Night Football” games will be called by two men in the booth. On Wednesday, ESPN shifted Ron Jaworski to analytical work on various studio shows in its empire, and it will let Jon Gruden and Mike Tirico call the games.
“Jaws served us well,” said Norby Williamson, ESPN’s executive vice president for programming. “But when we looked at everything we have, it became apparent that expanding his role on the other stuff to let him focus on all the teams, not just one game, was a better use of him.”
