The Miscalculations Which Lead to My Missing the FSU to Big 12 Story
Have you ever stood by and watched as a friend entered, or left, a marriage you KNEW that friend shouldn’t be entering, or leaving? Your best attempts to prevent this friend from making what you and many others see as a huge mistake fall on deaf ears. Reason and common sense bounce off your friend like a ball off a wall as a toxic mix of emotions drive him or her to a huge mistake.
This is how I feel watching Florida State’s increasingly likely move from the ACC to the Big 12. My colleague Ingram Smith in his outstanding column paints a grim picture for those of us who’d like Florida State (and Clemson) to stay in the ACC while simultaneously wanting to see the ACC survive.

Arguments Favoring FSU & Clemson’s Move to Big 12 Lack Merit
People promoting the “FSU and Clemson to Big 12” rumors base their belief in the possibility of this fantasy primarily on four factors:
- FSU and Clemson would make more money from athletics as members of the Big 12
- Big 12 football is superior to ACC football
- The ACC is a basketball –first conference at odds with FSU and Clemson’s football-first mentality
And most recently:
- FSU and Clemson’s ability to qualify for college football’s coming playoff would be greater in the Big 12

Florida State trustee may have lit the fuse on a potential move to the Big 12
Just as the rumbling rumors of Florida State moving from the Atlantic Coast Conference to the Big 12 had begun to hush, here came the Saturday afternoon bombshell.
“How do you not look into that option?” asked Andy Haggard, chairman of Florida State’s board of trustees, to Warchant.com. “On behalf of the Board of Trustees I can say unanimously we would be in favor of seeing what the Big 12 might have to offer.
“We have to do what it is in Florida State’s best interest.”

After busy weekend, FSU officials head to ACC meetings amid Big 12 concerns
TALLAHASSEE — Of all the questions the Athletic Coast Conference hopes to answer this week at its annual spring meetings in Amelia Island, the most pressing may revolve around Florida State.
Are the Seminoles leaving the conference, or not?
Thanks to a rather frenzied Saturday that included telling comments from the school’s board of trustees chair and football coach about a potential move from the ACC to the Big 12, the contingent of FSU administrators heading to the meetings will have to answer that question and many like i

FSU coach Jimbo Fisher says FSU should explore leaving ACC for Big 12
Florida State Athletic Director Randy Spetman told the Orlando Sentinel on Friday that his school is “committed” to staying in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Spetman may be the only one who thinks that way.
Florida State football coach Jimbo Fisher, before he spoke at the Seminole Club of Greater Orlando on Saturday, didn’t exactly shoot down rumblings that FSU will explore the possibility of leaving the ACC for the Big 12.

Recruiting and developing NFL draft prospects
Last Thursday night 7 college football teams that combined to sign 94 (4 star) & 13 (5 star) players didn’t have one player picked in the first round.
Here’s looking at you and you lack of coaching & developing players:
1. Texas
2. Georgia
3. Florida
4. Florida State
5. Michigan
6. Oklahoma
7. Miami
Was it a fluke? Sure. Is it unacceptable? Absolutely. More proof that Mack Brown and Mark Richt are two of the best when it comes to underachieving in college football.

Former Cowboy Sanders cited for fight at home with estranged wife
PROSPER, Texas — Former Dallas Cowboys star Deion Sanders has been charged with misdemeanor simple assault in the wake of an altercation with his estranged wife that got her arrested at their mansion in suburban Dallas, police said late Tuesday.
Police said further investigation led to citations against both Deion and Pilar Sanders, who still live together but on different sides of their palatial home in Prosper, a city about 30 miles north of Dallas.
The charge doesn’t warrant arrest. Prosper police spokesman Celso Martinez wouldn’t detail the allegations, but said the charge covers any act considered aggressive and could be as simple as touching or defensively jerking away from someone’s grip. The charge carries a fine of up to $500.

Big Three have big National Signing Day
As high school recruits across the country put pen to paper and signed their letters of intent on National Signing Day, the Sunshine State’s Big Three — Florida State, Florida and Miami — all managed to land top-ten recruiting classes.
Florida landed the No. 3 class according to Rivals.com in only Will Muschamp’s second NSD at the helm of the Gators. The class was led by three five-star commitments, including D.J. Humphries, a 6-foot-5, 265-pound offensive lineman from Charlotte, N.C.
Jimbo Fisher and Florida State continued to find success on NSD, as well.
The Seminoles signed a pair of five-star recruits whenMario Edwards Jr., the No. 1 defensive end in the country, and Eddie Goldman, the No. 1 defensive tackle from Washington, D.C., both agreed to continue their playing careers in Tallahassee. Those additions helped FSU land the No. 5 class in the country according to Rivals.com.

Why Alabama hasn’t given up hope of flipping Jameis Winston
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — Nick Saban’s staff hasn’t given up on landing Hueytown’s Jameis “Jaboo” Winston.
There’s a lot of speculation in recruiting circles that Winston, a Florida State commitment, could still wind up at Alabama. One of the reasons is that Winston still plans to take more official visits, and possibly as many as four with a limit of five.
