Life-Changing Accident, but an Unchanging Goal
Last year, Chad Jones was on the verge of fulfilling a lifelong dream. A two-sport athlete at Louisiana State, he was about to play in the N.F.L. The Giants thought Jones, a safety, was just what their secondary needed, and drafted him in the third round.
“He’s a big, young, talented kid, a multitalented athlete,” Giants General Manager Jerry Reese said in a recent phone interview. The 6-foot-3 Jones was also a reliever and outfielder for L.S.U.’s baseball team and could probably have played basketball.
