Post Game: Akron 68, Mississippi State 58

STARKVILLE — Mississippi State fans have seen this before, but they felt much more comfortable it wouldn’t happen this season.

But, yet again, here it is: an early season loss to a mid-major team. The Bulldogs trailed for most of the game and Akron picked up a 68-58 win at Humphrey Coliseum on Wednesday night.

WHAT HAPPENED? | Mississippi State had an awful night shooting the ball, and Arnett Moultrie was ineffective underneath the basket. The forward was 2-for-13 from the field and finished with 8 points. He did grab 15 boards (8 defensive) but couldn’t convert underneath.

State climbed within six a couple of times in the second half, but couldn’t break through. MSU was 34.5 percent from the field, and went the final 7:05 of the first half without a field goal. Akron 7-footer Zeke Marshall fouled out late in the game but MSU did not play Renardo Sidney in the final 4:29.
