SEC leads the way in football attendance (again)

* The Coaching Advantage — Nine of the 24 highest-paid coaches in the country worked in the SEC last year.

* The Money Advantage — Nine of the 21 largest athletic budgets belong to SEC schools.

* The Talent Advantage — Nearly 30% (29.5 to be exact) of all the NFL draft picks from 1988 through 2010 played high school football in the nine-state SEC footprint.

But if we were going to list a reasons for SEC success, we’d call it The Fan Advantage.  Fan passion helps create the money advantage and it certainly drives the coaching advantage.  And once again, SEC fans have outdone the rest of the nation when it comes to showing up on autumn Saturdays.

For the 13th year in a row, the SEC led the nation in attendance in 2010.  Six SEC schools ranked in the Top 10 nationally.  Nine are among the Top 25.
